    Description

This late 1940s/early 1950s Boy Scouts of America uniform was purchased at a Southern California estate sale.
It is in very good condition for its era with all of its buttons in tact, no holes and very minimal wear overall (mainly a few pulled threads on the back of the shirt and one patch which would need to be re-sewn to the shirt on its bottom edge).
According to the patches, it belonged to a member of the Hollywood, CA Troop 322. He was a Junior Assistant Scout Master Scribe according to both patches and attending a 1949 Camp Pepperdine event according to two other patches. All patches are attached and pictured.
The Felt Star pin which is attached above the left breast pocket was only produced from 1923 to 1946; however, it is still seen on uniforms dating to
1948-1949, which means it was still used until at least that time.
I'm dating this as a late '40s/early '50s uniform because the wearer was likely 13 in 1950 and one is usually Junior Assistant Scoutmasters are usually 16, meaning he would have been at this rank in 1953. Plus, there is some light hand stitching repair work on one of the sleeves (done by the original wearer) which means he probably wore this outfit for several years (i.e. in my estimate 1948 - 1953).
    Pants measurements are:
    16.5" Waist
    29" Inseam
    Top measurements are:
    16” Shoulder
    21” Sleeve
    19” Chest
    18” Waist
    20.5” Bottom
